tobirama: (Shut up! Shouting mad for once)
From: [personal profile] tobirama
No, he wasn’t denying it because what was the point? Izuna knew his mind well enough to know where it would do. But the fact that Tobirama could have done it without even telling Izuna why or even giving him a chance to explain was telling in its own right wasn’t it?

“Of course not! I don’t want to do this, Izuna! How could you even think I’d want to do this? I had no idea Madara was going to turn on the village but I know you. You’ll go to him and you’ll make war on Konoha and everything we’ve worked so hard to build here.” He’d already killed Izuna once and that guilt had haunted him every day since. Tobirama didn’t know if he was strong enough to say goodbye to his lover again. Even if it was just a simulation, a fake facsimile of life it still looked and acted like Izuna.

“No, I wouldn’t. You as a living breathing person is less of a threat then you in your current state.” All the things he’d deliberately built into the jutsu for Izuna’s benefit could now be turned against them. The invulnerability, the near limitless chakra stores not to mention the inability to be killed had all been his attempts at making things up to Izuna. And now it was going to bite them all in the ass.

“Madara is one man! And he’s turned his entire back on your clan as well as the village he helped build. Just stay here in Konoha.” Stay with him, it went unstated between them. “We’ll figure something out.” And then he wouldn’t have to dispel the jutsu. If Izuna stayed in Konoha, then he wasn’t a threat, right?

Tobirama physically recoiled from Izuna’s question because it had never even crossed his mind. “Of course not! Uchiha and Senju stand together now, don’t you get it? There is no more need for killing, that’s what your brother can’t get through his damned skull. Even his own clan has tired of his warmongering.”

Izuna’s words cut like blades and left him bleeding on the inside but Tobirama struggled to keep the tenuous edges of his self-control woven together. He was just as upset as Izuna and didn’t trust himself to keep a calm and level head in this matter. “Stop saying that! I don’t want to kill you, Izuna. But Madara has gone off the deep end. He was telling Hashirama about some crazy path and some stupid stone and I—I don’t even know what he was saying. It made no sense. But you can’t ask me to just let you leave and go to Madara.” He couldn’t risk it. Couldn’t risk Madara finding some way of turning Izuna around to his twisted thinking and turning him into a terrible tool to be used against Konoha.
